The dedicated and talented painter Elaine Mathews leads the Paint-Outs for the Desert Art Center in Palm Springs through May. The painters assemble at 9 am at locations around the Valley. (This is a late start for Elaine, who often can be found working in her garage studio at 3 am.) These are friendly get-togethers open to anyone, painter or not. In the spirit of the early desert painters, camaraderie and good snacks are essential. Next Paint-Outs scheduled:

Elaine Mathews also teaches classes on Tuesdays (1-4 pm) through June at the Desert Art Center. The acclaimed desert painter Terry Masters teaches at the Center Tuesday mornings from 9-12. The fee for classes is $30.
